BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University women's lacrosse team dropped their final home game of the season against Wofford College on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 17-7. Prior to the game, the program's nine seniors were honored.
Jamie Weber answered for GWU at 10:40 in the first following Wofford's first goal. The Terriers tallied five more in the first before Weber scored again with 1:55 left.
The second quarter saw
Aimie Perino score a pair of goals at 13:47 and 13:00. Weber tallied a hattrick scoring her third with 22 seconds left in the half. GWU scored these three around four second quarter goals for Wofford.
The third quarter saw two Wofford goals and
Emma Duchscherer score her first of the game with 7:12 left in the third. With 3:59 left in the quarter the game entered an hour and 15-minute lightning delay.
Following the delay, Wofford scored three more in the third, and two in the fourth. Weber found the back of the net one more time with 9:12 left in the game.
The Runnin' Bulldogs return the field on Saturday, April 27 on the road at Longwood University at 1:00 p.m.
