Runnin’ Bulldogs get one across on five hits against the fifth ranked Blue Devils
DURHAM, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University softball team fell to #5 Duke University on Tuesday evening by a final score of 14-1.
The Blue Devils got six across in the first, two in the second, and six more in the third.
Gardner-Webb scored their one run in the fourth inning as Andrea Lyon doubled to left center allowing Araceli Pesqueira to reach home. Duke ultimately won the game in the fifth via run rule.
Duke's Cassidy Curd got the win, and Elle Doolittle the loss.
Gardner-Webb will return to the field to on Saturday, April 27 to begin a three-game conference home series with Presbyterian College. The first two games will be a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
