RADFORD, Va. – The Gardner-Webb University baseball fell to Radford University on Saturday evening by a final of 8-4. GWU had an early lead that the Highlanders were able to overcome late in the ballgame.
Gardner-Webb put up two runs in the first frame as
Mark Black doubled scoring
Ryan Kennell, and
Humberto Torres singled bringing home Black.
Radford scored their first run in the second on a double steal.
Gavin Johnson singled to score
Tommy Tavarez in the fourth, and
Nick Capozzi doubled in the fifth scoring
Alec Burns to make it 4-1.
Radford responded by putting up a five spot on three hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. They went on to score two more in the seventh on a single and a sac fly earning the 8-4 win.
The 'Dawgs will return to the field on Sunday, April 28 for the rubber match against Radford University at 1:00 p.m.
