GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University baseball team picked up a 10-run victory over North Carolina A&T University on Wednesday night winning 20-10. The 'Dawgs scored 20 runs on 16 hits to win the ballgame in eight innings.
The Aggies got off to an early lead eventually leading 10-5 by the bottom of the fourth inning. Gardner-Webb then scored 15 unanswered runs starting in the fifth inning of the game. The Runnin' Bulldogs tallied six in the fifth, two in the sixth, three in the seventh, and four in the eighth when the game was called.
Peter Capobianco scored four times for GWU and racked up four RBI's.
Ryan Kennell also came around four times for the 'Dawgs.
Humberto Torres and
Mark Black both recorded three RBIs in the game as well.
Josh Gentile picked up the win, and Trent Simmons tallied the loss.
Gardner-Webb will return to the field on Friday, April 6 at 6:00 p.m. to host the Virginia Military Institute for the first game of a three-game weekend series.
