BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University baseball team picked up a series win on Sunday afternoon defeating the Virginia Military Institute in their three-game series finale by a final score of 5-4.

Alec Burns singled to score
Max Smyley extending the lead in the third.
VMI put up a pair in the fourth to tie the game at two.
Mark Black responded for the 'Dawgs in the bottom frame with a solo shot to leftfield regaining the lead.
Lawson Knight then singled in the sixth inning to score two more. VMI put up a pair to the top of the ninth before
Devin Pressley closed things down for his fifth save of the year.
Connor Maggi earned the win, and Will Riley the loss.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will return to the field on Tuesday, April 9 to take on UNC Greensboro on the road at 6:00 p.m.
