Reid Bertram maintained a no hitter through the first five innings on his way to a win.
Alec Burns got things started for the Runnin' Bulldogs in the first frame hitting a solo shot to left center giving GWU a 1-0 lead.
The 'Dawgs put up two more in the third inning as
Humberto Torres singled bringing home
Mark Black, and
Ethan Liao singled to score Torres.
Burns then hit his second homer of the day to right center in the fifth to make it 5-0 Runnin' Bulldogs.
UNC Asheville put a two-spot up in the bottom of the seventh inning via a pair of singles making it 5-2.
Ultimately,
Reid Bertram earned the win going 6.0 IP, registering six K's and just two hits.
Connor Maggi earned the save, and Cole Schiff the loss.
Gardner-Webb will return home on Tuesday, May 14 for a midweek meeting with the Queens University of Charlotte at 6:00 p.m.
