BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Redshirt sophomore linebacker Cahari Haynes of the Gardner-Webb football team has been named OVC-Big South Defensive Player of the Week following his solid performance at Eastern Illinois this past Saturday.
Haynes and the Runnin' Bulldogs defense held EIU to just 229 yards of total offense, an average of 3.2 yards per play. During the contest, Haynes recorded eight tackles (5 solo), including 2.5 tackles for loss and one of GWU's eight sacks on the afternoon.
Gardner-Webb sits at 4-2 overall and 2-0 in league play heading into a matchup with UT Martin on Saturday, October 18 at Spangler Stadium. Kickoff for that game is slated for 1:30 p.m.
