BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb (0-3) women's lacrosse team fell by the final of 16-3 against Old Dominion (3-0) in the home opener on Sunday afternoon inside Spangler Stadium.
Old Dominion posted the initial five goals of the contest before freshman attack
Ella Grace Bishop put the Runnin' Bulldogs on the board with an unassisted score at the 4:53 mark of the opening period.
However, the visitors notched the game's next seven goals while pushing out to a double-digit lead, 11-1 midway through the second frame. Bishop was at it again with less than five minutes to play before halftime, connecting on her second score of the match, but ODU took an 11-2 advantage into the break.
Three straight goals to open the third for the Monarchs pushed the lead to 14-2 before junior midfielder
Emma Duchscherer tacked on a score late in the third for Gardner-Webb. The fourth quarter went to Old Dominion as the Monarchs scored the lone two goals on the way to a 16-3 win.

Emma Anderson finished the game with seven saves as she played 48:59 between the pipes for the 'Dawgs.
Gardner-Webb will return to action on Wednesday, February 19 as it welcomes Kennesaw State to Boiling Springs. First draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
