SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb (2-13, 2-5) women's lacrosse team was handed a 16-4 loss at the hands of Wofford (7-9, 4-3) on Saturday afternoon at Gibbs Stadium.

Four different players were able to notch a goal for the Runnin' Bulldogs, but Wofford controlled the contest from start to finish.

After the Terriers posted the first three goals of the opening period, Rebecca Ferrina put the 'Dawgs on the board with an unassisted score with 2:57 left on the clock, pulling the score to within a pair of goals heading to the second.

However, Wofford outscored GWU by a tally of 7-0 in the second quarter, taking a commanding 10-1 lead into the intermission.

That advantage ballooned to 12-1 with the first two goals of the second half being scored by Wofford, but three straight scores from Katie Westbrook, Emma Duchscherer and Jules Brown narowed the gap to 12-4 heading into the fourth.

That would be as close as Gardner-Webb saw the score as the Terriers posted the final four goals of the game on their way to the 16-4 win.

Gardner-Webb will return to action on Saturday, April 26, playing host to Radford in the regular season finale at Spangler Stadium. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
