LAST TIME OUT: The Runnin' Bulldogs a mid-season hot streak came to an end at seven games on Tuesday afternoon, with Gardner-Webb dropping a close 4-3 game at Queens in a match-up rescheduled from the Red and Black Classic in February

LAST SEASON: Winthrop took two out of three in a crucial Big South series in Boiling Springs last March. With a four-run second inning by the Eagles, Winthrop did enough to swing the rubber match and the Gardner-Webb comeback came up two runs short in the seventh in a 4-2 defeat

CONFERENCE SWEEP: GWU got conference play started in a big way last weekend, sweeping Charleston Southern. The Runnin' Bulldogs continued to swing a more than hot bat, winning the opener 6-4 on Friday before taking 14-7 and 8-7 wins on Saturday, the latter which featured a five-run first inning and the former that saw at least three runs in three different innings

RUNS, RUNS, RUNS: Gardner-Webb has showcased its hitting ability throughout the season with a Big South best 256 total runs and nearly 8.0 runs per game. The Runnin' Bulldogs have scored 10 or more runs in 13 games played and have scored less than five runs in a game only seven times. The key has been the top and middle of the lineup, with senior Annicka McLaughlin hitting .429 out of the leadoff spot, while sophomore Reese Collier (.429) and senior Maggie Knight (.412) also in the .400 average or higher club

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: After a strong week, Knight was the fourth Gardner-Webb player this season to win Big South Player of The Week. Knight hit a .545, slugged .636 and had a .688 on-base average. She recorded six hits, scored four runs, had six RBI, one double and five walks in 16 plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with two RBI in the opener of the CSU series, 2-3 with three runs plated in game two, then walked and scored in the finale

ON THE ROAD: The Winthrop series will be the first round of a nearly month-long road trip through April. This includes the Winthrop series, a single game at Clemson on March 31st, another three-game set at USC Upstate on April 3rd and 4th, and a single game at App State on April 7th
