Anderson Tabbed Big South Defensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior goalkeeper Emma Anderson of the Gardner-Webb women's lacrosse team has been named Big South Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Anderson made 25 saves and collected nine ground balls in a 1-1 week for Gardner-Webb. She posted a .490 save percentage on 67 shots faced while playing all 120 minutes in goal. The junior recorded 14 saves and three ground balls against league-leading Mercer. She then earned the win against Longwood with 11 saves on 25 shots faced (.550), adding six ground balls as the Runnin' Bulldogs defeated the Lancers, 11-9.
An Alpharetta, Ga. native, Anderson has been one of the best goalkeepers in not only the Big South Conference but also the nation so far in 2026. Anderson leads the country in groundballs per game (5.0) and is currently third nationally in saves per game (10.87) and is fourth in total saves (163). Anderson has recorded double-digit saves in eight games this season, including a 17-save performance against Radford on Aprill 11.
