Runnin' Bulldogs Reach 30 Wins For Sixth Time in Program History, Close Regular Season With Split at ETSU

JOHNSON CITY, TENN - The Gardner-Webb softball team (30-23) reached the 30-win mark for the sixth time in program history on Tuesday afternoon, splitting a doubleheader at ETSU (19-27) to end the regular season
GAME ONE - ETSU 4, GWU 3
The early game was a battle, with ETSU only briefly pulling away to lead by as many as two runs throughout the contest
Down 1-0 in the fourth inning, senior shortstop Taylor Dreher drove in GWU's first run, aided by an error in center field. ETSU would grab the lead back by the top of the fifth, bringing the game to a 2-1 score
In the sixth, Gardner-Webb got a huge lift with a home run by sophomore third baseman Caitlin Colley. Colley cut the ETSU lead to 3-2 with her eigith long ball of the year, out towards center field
In the top of the seventh, sophomore first baseman Madden McMahan-Waters continued an excellent individual week. She roped a single down the left field line to tie the game at 3-3
With a sac fly in the bottom of the seventh, ETSU walked-off to win the opening game, 4-3
GAME TWO - GWU 1, ETSU 0
In the second game, Gardner-Webb got a pitching gem in the circle en route to a 1-0 win and its 30th win of the campaign
Freshman right-hander Glenna McLamb was excellent, pitching maybe the best game of her debut season. McLamb tossed 6.0 innings on 84 pitches, allowing only two hits, one walk and no runs
Just hours after being named National Mid-Major Pitcher of The Week, senior right-hander Alli Stidham stepped in to close the game. With a clean seventh inning, Stidham picked up her second save of the year and secured a GWU win
At the plate, the Dawgs needed just one run on five hits, and did the work in the third inning. Sophomore second baseman Reese Collier drove a single through the left side, scoring junior pinch runner Lilly Deaton for the game's only run

Gardner-Webb now awaits its seeding and opponent for the first round of the 2026 Big South Tournament, scheduled for May 6th at 5 pm on the campus of USC Upstate
