June 11, 2026 | Track & Field
EUGENE, OR - Competing at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships on Wednesday night, senior Quentin Peterson put the bow on one of the greatest seasons in Gardner-Webb history with a top-20 finish in men's shot put
Competing in men's shot put, Peterson finished 19th place overall on Wednesday night. The senior was scored with a mark of 18.16 meters, good enough to finish among the nation's best. Peterson was the first athlete from Gardner-Webb, men's or women's, to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships since 2015, and just the fourth ever to compete at a national competition at the NCAA Division I level.
Peterson joins GWU legend Alex Young (2014) as the only Runnin' Bulldogs throwers to ever compete in both Indoor and Outdoor nationals in the same year, following up from Peterson's performance in March that landed him Second Team All-American honors in shot put
