BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The season-opening contest between Gardner-Webb and Wofford was called to a halt in the 73rd minute following several lightning strikes within eight miles of Greene-Harbison Stadium on Thursday evening.
At the time of the stoppage, the score was knotted in a scoreless tie. The two teams will resume play at a later date with 17:09 remaining on the clock in the second half.
Gardner-Webb returns to the pitch on Monday, August 24 as it travels to Harrisonburg, Va. to take on the Dukes of James Madison. Kickoff for that contest is slated for 7 p.m.
