BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team picked up its second win of the season in dramatic fashion as the Runnin' Bulldogs earned a 3-2 win over UAB Wednesday evening at PNC Field.

Gardner-Webb was led by Nico Triguero who finished with a goal and an assist, including the match winner. The contest was highlighted by a flurry of goals in the second half with three coming in the span of 3:33.

With Wednesday's results, Gardner-Webb improves to 2-3-1 overall while UAB is now 4-3-1.

Gardner-Webb strikes first with an early goal from Blanchar Mulamba, his first of the season, coming in the 11th minute of the game off an assist from Triguero. UAB tied the match in the 27th minute and the score remained 1-1 after the first 45 minutes.

The Runnin' Bulldogs attack come alive in the second half with nine of the 12 shots of that match coming in the final 45 minutes. Henry Kang found the back of the net for the Dawgs in the 65th minute off an assist by Leonardo Cristescu to take a 2-1 lead. UAB tied the match shortly after with a goal in the 67th minute but the Runnin' Bulldogs answered once again as Triguero scored the eventual match-winner off an assist from Noah Simon.

Oliver Weng made two saves in goal for the Runnin' Bulldogs with the final save being the most important as he made a save in the final seconds to preserve the win for Gardner-Webb.

The Runnin' Bulldogs host their first Big South home match Saturday against Radford. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Greene-Harbison Stadium.
