Gardner-Webb University Athletics

Tucker Tejkl is in his second season on the Gardner-Webbfootball staff, and will take over the reigns as Special TeamsCoordinator in addition to coaching the team’s corners in2012. Tejkl assumed his new role prior to spring practice, and isan energetic coach in drills and on the sidelines.

Tejkl assisted with the Gardner-Webb defense and special teamsunits in 2011. He joined the Gardner-Webb program after spendingthe 2010 season as an assistant coach at Lambuth (Tenn.)University, where he worked as Special Teams Coordinator. Whilethere, Tejkl also spent time with the Eagles’ defensive backsand running backs. Tejkl’s special teams in 2010 ranked inthe top-10 nationally at the NAIA level in punt return yards (15.0ypr) and punting average (40.5 ypa).

He served as defensive backs coach at Morningside (Iowa) Collegein 2009, helping his alma mater to a 10-2 record and the NAIAquarterfinals. The Mustangs ranked seventh nationally that seasonin scoring defense and 10th nationally in pass efficiency defense.Morningside intercepted 20 passes and broke up 39 on theseason.

Tejkl was a three-year letterwinner as a defensive back forMorningside, helping the Mustangs to a 28-8 record over his finalthree seasons with the program.

The Leigh, Neb., native graduated from Morningside in 2009 witha degree in secondary education and concentration in biology. Heplayed on the prep level at Stanton Community (Neb.) High.
