Kristen Besselsen has joined the Gardner-Webb volleyball coaching staff for the 2019 season.
Besselsen joins the Runnin' Bulldogs after spending the previous two seasons playing professional volleyball in Europe, first for Orebro Volley of the Elite Series in Orebro, Sweden, and then for VFL Oythe Damen 1 in the Bungesliga Nord in Vechta, Germany.
Prior to her professional career, Besselsen was a standout player at Murray State University, helping lead the Racers to three consecutive Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) titles from 2014-16 and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2014 and 2016.
Besselsen earned First-Team All-OVC honors on two occasions and finished her career ranked tenth in Murray State program history with 1,050 kills.
A native of St. Louis, Mo., Besselsen graduated from Murray State University in 2015 with a Bachelor os Science degree in marketing and als earned her Master of Business Administration degree from Murray State in 2017.
