Biography

Rocco Caponi is entering his first year on the Gardner-WebbWrestling coaching staff in 2009-10.

Caponi brings a wealth of experience with him to Gardner-Webb ashe was a member of the wrestling team and a team captain at theUniversity of Virginia from 2004-2009.  While at Virginia,Caponi qualified for the NCAA Tournament four times and was athree-time individual ACC Tournament Champion en route to pickingup 111 career wins.

Caponi, who graduated from the University of Virginia in 2008with a bachelor’s degree in Studies of Women andGender,  is also the creator, camp director and clinician ofthe Rocco Caponi’s National Champ Camp, which was held inJune 2004.

While at Gardner-Webb, Caponi will be pursuing hismaster’s degree in Sports Science and Pedagogy.
