
Bulldogs Continue Dominance In The Classroom; GWU Honored For Academic Achievements

PHOENIX, Az. The Gardner-Webb women's swimming team was once again honored for being one of the top academic programs in Division I, as announced by the NCAA and compiled by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The women's team came in at No. 19 nationally for the spring semester of the 2007 academic year. The Bulldogs' have compiled a run of top-20 finishes for 10 consecutive semesters.
Head coach Mike Simpson's squad comprised a 3.402 GPA, just .098 of a point away from its 10th straight top-10 finish.
In all, 111 Division I women's teams earned Academic All-America honors. Of those teams, nine had GPAs of 3.50 or better while 104 scored 3.0 or higher.
The Bulldogs are coming off four consecutive Northeast Conference championships and will attempt to win their fifth straight conference title this season. This year, GWU is competing in the newly formed Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA).
The women's team and the first-year men's team will open their
respective seasons at Limestone on Oct. 12 at 6 p.m.
