
Charity Byrum Named To Capital One Academic All-District Teams

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Gardner-Webb senior Charity Byrum has been named to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team for her combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Byrum, a four-time Coastal Collegiate Swim Association All-Academic selection, helped to guide the Runnin' Bulldogs to a fourth place finish at the CCSA Championships during her senior season. For Byrum, the Capital One Academic All-Distrct Team selection is the second major academic award the senior has garnered, as she recently was a recipient of the Big South Conference's prestigious George A. Christenberry Award for Academic Excellence, which is given annualy to the male and female student-athletes who attain the highest GPA during their college careers.
Byrum graduated this past Saturday (May 9) with a Bachelor's Degree in exercise science, maintaining perfect 4.00 GPA during her four-years at Gardner-Webb.
The native of Winston Salem, concluded her collegiate swimming career as a seven-time All-CCSA performer and made her first national final the 2015 AT&T Winter Nationals, swimming a lifetime best time of 1:02.15 in the 100 yard breaststroke.
