Four Runnin' Bulldogs Earn All-Conference Honors

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Four Runnin' Bulldogs gathered All-Conference honors Thursday afternoon as the Big South released this year's award winners for women's soccer. Stina Kleppe, Samuelle Grove, Jessica Ferguson and Emily Jonas all received recognition for their regular season campaign this year.
Stina Kleppe, a sophomore midfielder from Skien, Norway was tabbed as a Second-Team All-Conference selection. Kleppe was second on the team in goals as she found the back of the net three times, adding one assist. Kleppe scored her first goal of the season against Maryland. Against Radford, she netted two shots leading the 'Dawgs to a 2-0 victory. The midfielder recorded 1,548 minutes through regular season play, while recording a shot on goal percentage of .429.
Junior forward, Samuelle Grove earned All-Conference Honorable Mention as she led the team in scoring with four goals and three assists. Grove, a native Ottawa, Canada also lead the team with 11 points, taking 40 shots with a shot on goal percentage of .550. Grove's four goals each came in different matches as she found the back of the net against Florida Atlantic, Winthrop, USC Upstate and Presbyterian.
Emily Jonas, a freshman defender from Hicksville, N.Y. was selected to the All-Freshman team. Jonas started in all 18 regular season matches, recording a team-high 1,663 minutes. A staple on defense for Gardner-Webb, Jonas helped contribute to three shutout wins coming against Eastern Kentucky, USC Upstate, and Presbyterian. Jonas recorded on assist on the season coming against Radford in 3-2 win in double overtime.
Also earning All-Conference honors is Jessica Ferguson. The senior forward form Lawrence, K.S. was selected to the Big South All-Academic Team. Ferguson, a double major in Chemistry and Spanish boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA. On the field, Ferguson has served primarily as a significant reserve playing in 15 matches, making four starts. Ferguson scored her lone goal of the season on Senior Day as she found the back of the net against Longwood in a 1-1 double overtime draw,
After posting a (4-11-3, 2-4-3 BSC) record, Gardner-Webb gathered the No. 7 seed in the conference tournament. They will square off with No. 2 Liberty tomorrow evening, Friday, Oct. 27 at 5:30 PM in Lynchburg, VA.
