
Stina Kleppe Named Third-Team All-Southeast Region Selection by United Soccer Coaches

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Gardner-Webb's Stina Kleppe was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region team for the second consecutive year the organization announced Monday.
Kleppe (Skien, Norway / Dahlske Videregaende Skole) was named a Third-Team All-Southeast Region selection following the conclusion of her senior campaign and was a Second-Team member in 2018. In 2019, She led the Runnin' Bulldogs to a 10-11-1 record and 7-3 mark in Big South Conference play. The Skien, Norway native helped the 'Dogs reach the Big South championship for the second consecutive year with her game-winner against top-seeded High Point in the semifinals clinching Gardner-Webb's spot in the winner-take-all finale.
Kleppe is a four-time All-Big South Conference honoree and ended her career in Boiling Springs with 80 starts in 81 matches played. She scored 27 times and assisted on 15 goals for a total of 69 points. 23 of her 27 goals came during her final two seasons in the red and black. She was credited with 11 game-winning goals, including six as a senior and four as a junior.
As a senior, she led the Runnin' Bulldogs with 12 goals and was second on the squad with five assists, trailing only sophomore Maddie Turlington who had eight. Kleppe tallied a team-best 29 points and had six game-winning goals. She was called upon to take a penalty kick three times and had a 100% conversion rate.
Gardner-Webb's leading goal scorer had two multi-goal performances – first in an overtime loss against Georgia Southern (Aug. 30) and again in the 'Dogs' first win – a 3-1 triumph over South Carolina State (Sept. 20). She tallied five points in the loss to Georgia Southern, a season-high.
Kleppe found herself ranked in the top-10 in the Big South in numerous categories. She finished the 2019 season third in points (29), goals (12), goals per game (.545) and game-winning goals (6), fourth in points per game (1.32) and ninth in assists (5). Nationally, she is currently 15th in game-winning goals.
Kleppe joined Campbell's Alexa Genas and Katie Lockwood, Radford's Nelia Perez, Kayla Thomas and Gabi Paupst, High Point's Talia Klimes and Longwood's Taylor Alvey as one of eight Big South women's soccer student-athletes recognized as an All-Region selection by the United Soccer Coaches.
