Runnin’ Bulldogs Ready For 2019 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's outdoor track and field team is prepared to take part in the 2019 Big South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, beginning Wednesday afternoon.
Throughout the 2019 regular season, the Runnin' Bulldogs had eight results that ranked among the top-ten among all Big South Conference competitors.
Gardner-Webb had three of the top-ten marks in the hammer throw this season, led by Natasha Akbarizadeh, who set the GWU record at 62.68 meters at the Duke Invitational on April 19 to lead all competitors. Petra Jakeljic followed in second with a distance of 59.02 meters at the Terrier Relays on March 30. Cailen Blaire ranked seventh with a distance of 47.28 meters at the Don McGarey Invitational on April 26.
Louise Schmidtgen ranked fifth overall in the pole vault with a mark of 3.57 meters, set at the Charlotte Invitational on April 12.
Diviana Forrest ranked seventh in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 24.58 seconds at the Don McGarey Invitational on April 26.
Taliyah Wade ranked seventh in the shot put with a distance of 12.93 meters at the Charlotte Invitational on April 12.
Khalilah Conway had the ninth-best mark of the season in the high jump at 1.54 meters at the Charlotte Invitational on April 12.
Cailen Blaire had a season-best mark of 35.81 meters in the discus at the VertKlasse Meeting on March 21 to rank tenth overall.
The 2019 Big South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting and UCS takes place Wednesday, May 8 through Friday, May 10 at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Complex on the campus of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C.
