First Day of Vertklasse Meeting Highlighted By Personal Bests

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Gardner-Webb Track and Field competed in the first day of action at the Vertklasse Meeting on Thursday afternoon, which was highlighted by several top eight finishes and several personal bests.
In the women's 1,500 meter, Faith Parandhamaia ran a personal best with a time of 5:12.48 in the event. Jennifer Escalera also ran a personal best with a time of 5:39.76.
Amy Prugh set a personal best and set a new top ninth time in program history in the women's 5,000 meter, as she finished with a time of 18:58.05.
Kenny VanVorst took third overall in the men's hammer throw by hitting a mark of 54.57 meters. Josh Fischer placed 11thin the event by hitting a mark of 47.44 meters.
In the women's javelin, Callie Rhea placed eighth by hitting a mark of 33.65 meters, which is a personal best for her.
Jaden Finch took second overall in the women's shot put by hitting a mark of 13.17 meters, which is a personal best and top five mark in program history. Taliyah Wade finished in fifth place by hitting a mark of 12.92 meters.
As for the men's shot put, Julian Smallwood took third by hitting a mark of 16.92 meters, and Josh Fischer took sixth by hitting a mark of 14.81 meters.
Khalilah Conway placed eighth in the women's high jump by hitting a mark of 1.45 meters.
Runnin' Bulldogs Track and Field will be back in action tomorrow for day two of the Vertklasse Meeting.
