BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Summer collegiate wooden bat leagues are in full swing throughout the nation, with 17 Runnin' Bulldogs competing in various leagues across the country.
CAPE COD BASEBALL LEAGUE
Hyannis Harbor Hawks (2-17)
Kyle Skidmore joined the Harbor Hawks this week, and saw action in his first game with the squad, recording one out in an 8-7 loss to the Bourne Braves.
MLB DRAFT LEAGUE
State College Spikes (16-22)
Drew Janssen made four trips to the mound for the Spikes, tossing 5.1 scoreless frames with seven strikeouts.
APPALACHIAN LEAGUE
Princeton WhistlePigs (20-14)
AJ Jones has played in 30 games thus far for the WhistlePigs, batting .259 with eight doubles and one triple and has driven in 23 runs. Princeton is currently one game out of first place in the East Division of the Appalachian League.
SOUTH FLORIDA COLLEGIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE
Phipps Park Barracudas (17-15)
Humberto Torres has been behind the plate for 19 games for the Barracudas, batting .302 with a triple, home run, and 13 RBI. Phipps Park sits just one game out of first place in the SFCBL's North Division.
FLORIDA COLLEGIATE SUMMER LEAGUE
Leesburg Lightning (14-8)
Connor Gleeson has made eight trips to the mound from the bullpen this summer for the Lightning, forging a 1.00 ERA with one save in 9.0 innings of work. He has fanned ten batters while holding batters to a low .129 average. The Lightning are tied with the Sanford River Rats for first place in the FCSL
SOUTHERN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE
Carolina Vipers (12-9)
Carson Yates has seen action in ten games thus far for the Vipers, batting .361 with a double, home run and eight RBI, along with three stolen bases. The Vipers are in a tight race for first place in the league standings, ranking fourth but just one game out of first place.
SUNBELT BASEBALL LEAGUE
Atlanta Crackers (12-8)
Nate Anderson has played in 19 games for the Crackers with a .313 batting average, including four foubles, one triple, and two home runs. He has totaled nine RBI. The Crackers are currently two games out of first place in the SBL. Anderson was also recently selected for the 2021 SBL All-Star Game.
COASTAL PLAIN LEAGUE
Martinsville Mustangs (13-20)
Bo Rusher has played in 19 games behind the plate for the Mustangs, batting .217 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, and 12 RBI.
Benino Mendella has seen action in the outfield in ten contests, batting .148 with a pair of doubles and a home run, driving in four runs.
Asheboro Copperheads (17-16)
Jacob Marcos has seen action in 17 games for the Copperheads, batting .244 with six runs driven in, and has also stole three bases.
PERFECT GAME COLLEGIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE
Watertown Rapids (12-21)
Brett Myers has played in 23 games so far for the Rapids, batting .167 with a double, triple and four RBI.
OLD NORTH STATE LEAGUE
Lenior Legends (11-11)
Nick Capozzi has seen action in 12 games thus far for the Legends, batting .241 with two doubles, one triple, two home runs and 10 RBI.
MID-PLAINS LEAGUE
Next Level Travelers (9-21)
Daegan Brady is competing for the Next Level Travelers, based out of Lecompton, Kansas, about fifteen minutes from Lawrence and twenty minutes from Topeka. Brady was recenlty chosen to play in the MPL All-Star game.
PROSPECT LEAGUE
West Virginia Miners (20-22)
Hunter Youngblood has made three trips to the mound for the Miners, starting twice. He has posted a 2-1 record with a 5.68 ERA, striking out 12 batters in 12.2 innings tossed.
Johnstown Mill Rats (14-27)
Pete Capobianco has played in 29 games for the Mill Rats, batting .218 with ten doubles, four home runs and 16 RBI.
NEW ENGLAND COLLEGIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE
Keene Swamp Bats (17-10)
Lenny Washington has made ten appearances from the bullpen for the Swamp Bats, tossing 16.2 innings with a 3.24 ERA and 19 strikeouts. Washington has made six scoreless appearances on the year, including three scoreless frames in his last outing, earning the win in a 5-1 decision over Winnipesaukee. The Swamp Bats lead the Northern Division of the NECBL.
VALLEY LEAGUE
Front Royal Cardinals (14-20)
Cam Barrier has made six trips to the mound from the bullpen for the Cardinals, hurling 12.0 innings with a 7.50 ERA and 11 strikeouts.
