DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb swim team took on Davidson College at the Charles A. Cannon Pool on Saturday afternoon. The women were defeated by Davidson by a score of 174 to 83, and the men lost by a score of 151 to 106.
 
The Runnin' Bulldog squad of Kayla Smith, Abby Surley, Paris Binard, and Alyssa Church took second place in the women's 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.43 at the wall.
 
In the men's 200-yard medley relay, the squad of Brady Fields, Jonathan Frye, Tim Bennett, and Seggio Bernardina claimed the gold with a time of 1:33.73 at the finish.
 
Emma Maust (11:01:00) and Ellie Eckert (11:07.97) placed fourth and fifth in the women's 1,000-yard freestyle.
 
As for the men's 1,000 freestyle, Garrett Despres (10:12.41), Noah Seip (10:29.09), Harden Carpenter (10:38.48), and Trevor Wyatt (10:55.77) took fourth through seventh place.
 
In the women's 200-yard freestyle, Adrianna Barone (2:00.34) placed second and Alyssa Church (2:00:44) took third. 
 
Theo Drescher placed second in the men's 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.91 at the finish, while teammate Logan Cornelison took fourth with a time of 1:46.08.
 
As for the women's 100-yard backstroke, Kayla Smith (1:00.94) took third, and Delaney Willette (1:00.97) Followed in fourth.
 
Brady Fields claimed the goal for the Runnin' Bulldogs in the men's 100-yard backstroke by clocking a time of 52.15 seconds at the finish. Tim Bennett placed fourth with a time of 52.96 seconds in the event. 
 
Abby Surley (1:09.00) and Sydney Hall (1:11.17) placed fourth and fifth in the women's 100-yard backstroke.
 
In the men's 100-yard breaststroke, Jonathan Frye took second place with a time of 59.89 seconds at the wall.
 
As for the women's 200-yard butterfly, Ashley Cesario placed fourth with a time of 2:16.27 in the event.
 
Christian Jann placed third in the men's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:00.66 at the wall.
 
Paris Binard (25.71) and Eliza Gunson (25.82) placed second and third in the women's 50-yard freestyle. 
 
Seggio Bernardina claimed first-place for the Runnin' Bulldogs in the men's 50-yard freestyle by clocking in a time of 21.49 seconds at the finish. 
 
Alyssa Church placed third in the women's 100-yard freestyle by finishing with a time of 55.02 seconds.
 
Bernardina (48.22) then turned around and placed fifth in the men's 100-yard freestyle. 
 
In the women's 200-yard back, Delaney Willette placed fourth overall with a time of 2:12.35 at the finish. 
 
Landon Clark placed fifth in the men's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.92 at the finish.
 
Abby Surley (2:32.98), Anna Yeater (2:34.67), Adrianna Barone (2:36.40), and Sydney Hall (2:41.21) placed fourth through seventh in the women's 200-yard backstroke.
 
Ryan Taylor took second place in the men's 200-yard breaststroke by clocking a time of 2:14.02 at the finish.
 
In the women's 500-yard freestyle, Emma Maust placed third with a time of 5:22.68, and Ellie Eckert placed fourth with a time of 5:28.75.
 
Theo Drescher placed second in the men's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:48.82 at the wall.
 
As for the women's 100-yard butterfly, Ashley Cesario placed fourth with a time of 1:01.35 at the finish.
 
Tim Bennett placed second in the men's 100-yard butterfly by posting a time of 52.86 seconds at the finish. 
 
Abby Surley, Delaney Willette, Adrianna Barone, and Anna Yeater swept first through fourth place in the women's 200-yard IM.
 
Christian Jann, Daniel Baldwin, Ryan Taylor, and Bryan Dunne also swept first through fourth place in the men's 200-yard im.
 
Concluding the meet, The Runnin' Bulldogs claimed gold in both the men's and women's 200-yard freestyle relays.
 
Gardner-Webb Swimming will hit the pool deck again on Saturday, January 29, as they travel to The Flats to face Georgia Tech.
