Gardner-Webb Wraps Up First Day Of Big South Indoor Track And Field Championships

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Runnin' Bulldogs track and field competed in the first day of the Big South Indoor Track and Field Championships at the JDL Fast Track on Thursday afternoon.
In the women's 5,000-meter run, Chloe McDaniel clocked in a time of 20:12.59, which is a new personal best for her.
As for the women's pole vault, Sophia Smith (3.56m) placed fifth and Saylor Abbott (3.06m) took eighth place. Smith's mark in the pole vault is a new top eight program record.
Julian Smallwood placed third overall for the Runnin' Bulldogs in the men's shot put, as he hit a new personal best mark of 17.02 meters. Smallwood's new mark is also good for a new top three all-time program record.
Khalilah Conway placed ninth in the women's indoor pentathlon. Conway ran a time of 9.57 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, hit a mark of 1.51 meters in the high jump, hit a mark of 8.96 meters in the shot put, hit a mark of 4.10 meters in the long jump, and ran a time of 2:39.06 in the 800-meter run.
In the women's distance medley, the squad of Hannah Mitchell, Brianna Payne, Faith Parandhamaia, and Amy Prugh placed fifth with a time of 12:35.02. Today's DMR time is a top-three all-time program record.
As for the women's 800-meter run preliminaries, Teryn Bour (2:27.13) and Brooklyn Tretter (2:29.87) both locked in personal bests.
