Gardner-Webb Competes In First Day of Vertklasse Meeting

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb track and field team competed in day one of the Vertklasse Invitational on Friday afternoon at Vert Stadium.
Ryan Morita (4:04.41) and Gary Ankrom (4:45.13) each clocked in personal bests in the men's 1,500-meter run. Morita's time qualifed as a new top-eight all-time program record.
In the women's 5,000-meter run, Amy Prugh placed fifth with a time of 18:08.89 at the finish line. Prugh's time is a new personal best and top-three all-time program record. Chloe McDaniel (20:04.47) ran a personal best in the event as well.
As for the men's hammer elite, Josh Fischer placed sixth by hitting a mark of 53.72 meters.
In the men's high jump, Cameron Donoghue placed seventh by hitting a mark of 1.80 meters.
Nate Wonsley placed eighth overall in the men's hammer by hitting a mark of 43.67 meters.
Khalilah Conway placed fourth in the women's high jump by hitting a mark of 1.51 meters.
In the women's shot-put elite, Autumn Drayton (13.35 meters) placed eighth and Taliyah Wade (12.41 meters) locked in a new personal best.
Saylor Abbott (3.05 meters) locked in a personal best in the women's pole vault.
In the women's 1,500-meter run, Hannah Mitchell (5:12.26) and Taylor Robinson (5:17.53) both clocked in personal bests.
Track and field will be back in action tomorrow as they compete in the final day of the Vertklasse meeting.
