Gardner-Webb Competes In UNC Charlotte Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The track and field team competed in the first day of action of the UNC Charlotte Invitational on Friday Evening.
In the women's hammer throw, Autumn Drayton placed fourth by hitting a mark of 50.01 meters, Jaden Finch placed eighth by hitting a mark of 47.57 meters, and Taliyah Wade followed in 10th with a mark of 43.28 meters.
As for the men's hammer throw, Josh Fischer hit a personal best mark by finishing in seventh with a mark of 56.02 meters. Fischer's mark is a new top-six all-time program record.
In the women's discus throw, Karmen Taylor placed sixth by hitting a mark of 43.44 meters (personal best), Jaden Finch followed in seventh with a mark of 43.18 meters, and Autumn Drayton placed ninth by hitting a mark of 41.13 meters.
Patrick Sastre placed fourth in the men's 800-meter run, clocking in a time of 1:51.88 at the finish (PR, Top-Two program record). Chloe McDaniel (19:18.42) and Jennifer Escalera (20:02.02) each ran personal bests.
In the women's 5,000-meter run, Amy Prugh ran a new top-two program record with a time of 17:56.52.
Faith Parandhamaia ran a personal best time of 4:59.48 in the women's 1,500-meter run.
In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Taylor Robinson clocked in a time of 12:33.31 (top-eight all-time).
The Runnin' Bulldogs will be back in action tomorrow for the final day of racing at the UNC Charlotte Invitational.
