Women's Lacrosse to Finish Season at High Point on Saturday

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb travels to face High Point on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale. The Runnin' Bulldogs stand at 3-5 in conference play while the Panthers have a 6-2 record with both teams coming off important wins this past Wednesday.
 
Gardner-Webb welcomed Winthrop to Spangler Stadium for their last game and came away with a 15-10 decision over the Eagles. A pair of 3-0 runs in the third quarter helped to break the halftime tie and pushed the 'Dogs past the visitors.
 
High Point just knocked off Campbell in their last outing with a 15-14 triumph as they fought back from a late 14-12 deficit to get the win. This was the first loss within league play for the Camels this season.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs have been led by Jada Preston again this season with her providing a pair of game-winning goals this year and on pace to break her single-season assists record from last year. She has notched 26 this year while she dished 27 last year en route to being named a First-Team All-Conference performer.
 
Bria Foley has been the statistical leader on this side of the field this year as she is second in assists and points per game during league play in 2023. She has is going at 6.00 points and 2.75 assists per game clip through the eight conference games played so far. Her 3.25 goals per game rank fourth in the Big South. She is putting herself in the GWU single season record books for points (2nd with 63), assists (4th with 25) and goals (T5th with 38). She is nearing her 100th career point as she has 96 points entering today.
 
In the last game, Aimie Perino tallied her 50th career point to move into a tie for 8th in program history for career goals. She is solo 8th for assists (24) and points (74) as a steady presence for the 'Dogs attack over the past three seasons. Perino is currently third on the team in points for the year with 30.
 
Last game, Grace Briggs recorded a pair of caused turnovers to break the school record for CTs in a year with 34. She's collected 59 CTs across her four years which rank as fourth-most in program history. She ranks second in the league in CTs per game and 15th in the NCAA at 2.12. Heather Lobas has also been another consistent presence for the team ranking in the league-best in CTs (30) and GBs (32).
 
Danielle Burke collected her 50th career save last Saturday at Furman as she had a season-high 15 in the outing. She now has 512 for her career as she looks to play in her final game.
 
First draw for the game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. with the Panthers with it broadcasted live on ESPN+.
