Five Runnin’ Bulldogs hit the back of the net for nine goals in loss to the Paladins
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University women's lacrosse team was bested in their Saturday afternoon Big South contest against Furman University by a final score of 21-9. Five different 'Dawgs combined for nine goals.
Furman put up an early two goal lead in the first quarter before Brittany Sherrod and Jamie Weber tied the game for GWU. The 'Dawgs and Paladins exchanged goals again in the following minute with Aimie Perino scoring. Furman then opened things up scoring seven straight goals. Taylor Tobin, Weber and Perino tallied three more before the half. Third quarter goals from Perino and Weber allowed GWU to keep within six goals. Despite a fourth quarter goal from Rebecca Ferrina, Furman went on to tally seven more to pull away from Gardner-Webb.
The Runnin' Bulldogs return the field on Wednesday, April 3 to play on the road at Mercer University starting at 4:00 p.m.
