Women's Soccer Downed at High Point, 3-0

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Chasing a crucial three points in the conference race, the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team (4-9-3, 3-2-2 Big South) suffered a 3-0 defeat on the road at High Point (3-9-3, 3-3-1 Big South)
The Runnin' Bulldogs got off to a slow start, with High Point taking the lead and ending a program-record shutout streak, inside the game's first three minutes. Gardner-Webb battled back for a competitive first half, but goals from HPU in the 50th and 81st minute wrapped up the contest
In that competitive first half, Gardner-Webb put forth a handful of chances right after the HPU opening goal. Senior defender Camila Lezcano returned to the lineup with two early shots, and freshman forward Ila Allred produced a save in the 10th minute.
Freshman defender Sarah Birchall had the best chance of the game for Gardner-Webb in the 24th minute, with one shot cleared off the line and the follow up saved after a GWU corner. That was the final shot on target for the Dawgs until Julia McBride forced a save in the 45th minute.
McBride forced one last save in the 62nd minute, the final shot on target for the Runnin' Bulldogs. High Point pulled away with a pair of second half goals, as Gardner-Webb fell 3-0
LEADERS
Senior goalkeeper Savannah Dixon posted four saves, Birchall in 73 minutes and McBride in 36 minutes each finished with two shots on frame, and the duo of sophomore defender Tanner Michael and redshirt junior defender Peyton Bryant each played 90 minutes
