Gardner-Webb Women Picked Third, Men Placed Sixth Big South Indoor Track and Field Preseason Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Per release from the conference office, the Gardner-Webb indoor track and field teams have been picked in the Big South Indoor Track and Field Preseason Poll, with the GWU women selected in third place and the men's team picked to finish sixth

Three-time defending Big South Champion High Point has been unanimously voted the top team in the annual polls, as voted by the league's head coaches and announced this afternoon by the conference office. The Panthers received all eight first-place votes and 64 points in both preseason rankings to repeat as champions this upcoming season.

In the women's voting, Charleston Southern was second to High Point with 55 points, with the Runnin' Bulldogs in the third position with 43 points. Radford was fourth in the balloting with 40 points, ahead of USC Upstate (31 points).  UNC Asheville was sixth in the preseason ranking with 29 points, while Winthrop was seventh with 17 points. Longwood, in its first full year with an Indoor Track & Field program, landed in the eighth and final spot in the polling with nine points

In the men's polling, Charleston Southern garnered 52 points to finish second in the polling. USC Upstate claimed third with 47 points, while UNC Asheville was fourth in the voting with 44 points.  Winthrop landed in the fifth position with 29 points, just ahead of the Runnin' Bulldogs with 28 points Longwood, in its first full year with an Indoor Track & Field program, landed in the seventh spot with 13 points. Radford, which reinstated its men's track & field program last May and is competing for the first time since 2014, received 11 points for the eighth and final slot in the balloting

The 2025-26 indoor track & field season begins December 4th, and concludes with the 2026 Big South Indoor Track & Field Championship on February 27th and 28th, at Tryon International in Mill Spring, N.C.
