ROCK HILL. S.C. - Back in action over the weekend, the Gardner-Webb track and field team posted a successful individual and team weekend at the Winthrop Invitational
In finals for men's discus, junior
Devin Redd was second for Gardner-Webb. Redd recorded an impressive mark of 45.78 meters, nearly three whole meters above the third place finisher
Senior
Adrionna Coleman was scored as the winner in women's shot put. Coleman impressed with a mark of 12.56 meters, the only athlete in the field to clear 12.00 flat
Men's triple jump saw another GWU win, this time by freshman
Donnovan Richardson. Richardson recorded a mark of 15.03 meters, taking the victory as the only athlete competing to clear 15.00 flat
Gardner-Webb also picked up an individual victory in the women's high jump. Sophomore
Paige Boyd was excellent for the Dawgs, with a mark of 1.70 meters
Freshman
Skye Jackson was the winner in the women's 100 meters. Jackson was quick to the finish line, crossing in just 12.19 second to take first place. Senior
Jada Pittman was eighth for GWU in 12.53 seconds
The Dawgs were fifth and sixth in the men's 400 meters. Sophomore
Angel Urugutia was fifth in 49.61 seconds, while teammate
Peyton Wheeler was sixth in 49.74 seconds
One of the best events of the weekend for Gardner-Webb was the women's 400 meters with a pair of top fives and four top ten finishers. Sophomore
Gabrielle Comery led the way with a second place run in 57.63 seconds, followed closely by freshman
Laura Covarrubias in third in 57.74 seconds. Also for GWU, freshman
Karsyn Huskey was sixth in 59.63seconds, and senior
Jessica Perriello was seventh in 59.74 seconds

Christian Rutland brought it home in third place in the men's 110 meter hurdles. Rutlan crossed the line with a time of 16.24 seconds
Furthermore, the Dawgs took each of the top two spots in the women's hammer throw by a wide margin. Freshman
Hannah Hoffman won the event with a stellar mark of 53.70 meters, the only athlete to clear 50.00 flat. Junior
Zoie Johnson was second with a mark of 48.88 meters, clearing third place by over 4.5 meters
Senior
Robert Joseph Jr. took the win in the men's addition of the hammer throw. With a mark of 53.98 meters, Joseph was far and away the victor in the competition
