
Runnin' Bulldogs End Historic Run at 2026 Big South Outdoor Championships With Dual Fourth Place Finishes

HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb track and field team ended a historic run at the 2026 Big South Outdoor Championships on Wednesday night, taking home several awards and a fourth place team finish on both the men's and women's sides
To open the day, Gardner-Webb quickly added two more Big South Champions to its long list of awards for the week. To start, Quentin Peterson added to his own impressive trophy cabinet with a win in the men's discus throw yet again. Peterson captured another crown with a mark of 55.68, nearly 5.00 meters better than second place.
Sophomore Paige Boyd captured a title in the women's high jump. Boyd was scored first place in the event, winning her gold medal with a mark of 1.74 meters. Junior Jonathan Timpson also continued to add to the list of podium finishes for the Dawgs, taking second in men's high jump at 2.04 meters
Freshman Hannah Hoffman continued an excellent first season for the Runnin' Bulldogs by taking home the Big South Freshman of The Year award. Hoffman was fourth at Outdoor Championships with a 46.82 meters mark in the women's discus throw, and second with a mark of 53.62 in thw women's hammer throw
GWU also added two athletes to the Big South All-Academic team, and picked up another Scholar Athlete of The Year Award. To start, junior Isa van Sintemaartensdijk was named to the Women's All-Academic Team following a fourth place finish in the heptathlon while holding down a 3.97 GPA as an Exercise Science-Theater Arts dual major
Winning Big South Scholar Athlete as GWU swept the men's awards between Indoor and Outdoor season, was junior Blaine Blose. Blose was second place and All-Big South in men's javelin throw yesterday, and also finished with a 3.98 GPA while working towards his degree in Communications
Other notable performances for the Runnin' Bulldogs on Wednesday include freshman Skye Jackson finishing sixth in the women's 200 meter finals (24.28 seconds), senior Jessica Perriello finishing sixth in the women's 800 meter finals (2:14.08), and van Sintemaartendijk who was fifth in women's javelin (37.84 meters)
