Julia McBride Named Big South Offensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Julia McBride has been named the Big South Offensive Player of the Week Monday by the league office after helping the Runnin' Bulldogs open Big South Conference play with a pair of road wins.
McBride delivered a pair of clutch performances as Gardner-Webb last week. In GWU's conference opener against Presbyterian on Wednesday, McBride scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute to give the Runnin' Bulldogs a 2-1 victory and their first conference win of the season.
Gardner-Webb traveled to Charleston Southern Saturdaay for its second conference match of the week and found itself trailing early. McBride once again came through, converting a penalty in the 10th minute to help set the stage for another late game-winning goal as the Runnin' Bulldogs secured another victory.
McBride leads the Big South with seven goals this season and has scored in three consecutive matches. She has played a key role in the Runnin' Bulldogs' early success in conference play.
Gardner-Webb will look to continue its winning streak when it hosts UNC Asheville on Saturday, Oct. 3. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Greene-Harbison Stadium.
