
GWU Men's Soccer Garners Six A-Sun Postseason Awards

Macon, Ga. The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team had a number of individuals awarded for the Bulldogs outstanding and record setting season this year by the Atlantic Sun Conference office on Wednesday, November 1.
Freshman Boris Gatzky, junior Richard Godfrey, sophomore Dirk Dittrich, senior Tyler Kettering and head coach Tony Setzer all received A-Sun Conference postseason honors and awards for the Bulldogs best finish in the conference since joining the A-Sun in 2002.
Freshman midfielder Boris Gatzky received three honors, as he was named to the First Team All-Atlantic Sun, the Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen Team and was named as the Freshman of they Year in the A-Sun Conference. Gatzky was tied for first on the team during the regular season with six assists and was tied for second with four goals. The freshman from Reutlingen, Germany was third overall in the A-Sun with three assists in conference play and tied for fifth in the conference in both points and goals, as he notched seven points and two goals in the Dogs seven conference games.
Joining Gatzky on the First Team All-Atlantic Sun was junior forward Richard Godfrey and sophomore defender Dirk Dittrich.
Godfrey, a transfer from Schoolcraft Junior College, led the Bulldogs with six goals on the year and was tied for the team lead in assists with six. In A-Sun conference play Godfrey flourished for the Dogs as he led the conference with in points (13) and goals (6). The junior from Montego Bay, Jamacia was also atop the A-Sun in game-winning goals, as he notched two for the Dogs in conference action.
Sophomore and team captain Dirk Dittrich was also named to the first team, as the defender is undeniably the emotional and physical leader of the Bulldog defense that helped GWU keeper Tyler Kettering in recording five shutouts for the season, with three of those coming in conference play. Dittrich, who was named to the All-Freshman team last season, was the glue that helped to hold the strong and solid Bulldog defenese together as he started and played in all 17 of the Dogs contests.
Senior goalkeeper Tyler Kettering was named to the Second Team All-Atlantic Sun team for the second time in his four-year career at GWU. Kettering posted a goals against average of 1.43 overall and a 1.09 in seven conference match ups, which was good enough for fourth overall. Kettering, who became GWU's All-Time Career Saves Leader early this season, posted five shutouts for the season and was tied for first in the conference with three shutouts in conference play. The on the field leader for this young Bulldog team, Kettering posted 26 saves in A-Sun play, which was good enough for fourth overall, and totaled 93 saves on the season which was the most by any A-Sun goalkeeper and fourth in the nation.

Head coach Tony Setzer was named as the Atlantic Sun Conference Coach of the Year, as he directed the Bulldogs to five conference wins, the most in one season since the Bulldogs joined the A-Sun in 2002, and to a #2 seeding in Gardner-Webb's first ever Atlantic Sun Conference Championships tournamet.
This season marks the first time ever that the Bulldogs have had a player named to the First Team All-Atlantic Sun, and the fourth consecutive year that GWU has had at least one player named to both the Second Team All-Atlantic Sun and the Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen team.
