Offseason Update: Summer Collegiate League Play Continues For the Diamond 'Dogs

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – A handful of Gardner-Webb baseball members continue to compete in various collegiate wooden bat leagues across the east coast.
CAPE COD BASEBALL LEAGUE (CCBL)
Brewster Whitecaps (12-11-1)
Justin Kunz is currently batting .235 with three doubles and one home run in 14 games thus far behind the plate for the Whitecaps. He has a .412 slugging percentage, which ranks fifth on the team.
COASTAL PLAIN LEAGUE (CPL)
Asheboro Copperheads (13-20)
Mason Fox is batting .211 with four home runs and 11 RBI. He ranks second on the team with a .525 slugging percentage. On the mound, Fox has a 5.60 ERA in seven appearances, fanning 29 batters in 17.2 innings of work with a 2-3 record.
Patrick Morton is 1-0 on the year, posting a 9.80 ERA in 7.1 innings with seven strikeouts in seven appearances.
Lexington County Blowfish (11-22)
Mickey Dugan is batting .235 for the summer with three doubles, one triple, one home run, and seven RBI. He's shown his speed on the basepaths throughout the summer, leading the Blowfish in stolen bases, going a perfect 6-for-6 thus far.

Chris Clary is batting .299, tallying 23 hits with nine doubles and four home runs in 24 contests. He has driven in 19 runs and has 11 stolen bases along with a .571 slugging percentage, earning him 2017 SCBL All-Star honors.
Chase Lane has an average of .250 at the plate, collecting 14 base hits in 20 games, along with four doubles, one home run, and seven RBI.
Lake Norman Copperheads (14-14)
Langdon Wilson has a 2.19 ERA in six starts, posting a 3-1 record in 29.2 innings of work while striking out 32 batters.
JD Huggins is batting .272 in 27 games, collecting 22 base hits with six doubles, four home runs, and 17 RBI.
Piedmont Pride (19-6)
Carey Spratlin has made three appearances on the mound for the Piedmont Pride, having a 0-1 record with a 8.30 ERA in 4.1 innings of work with three strikeouts.

Aaron Stewart has made one appearance thus far, tossing one inning in a 22-1 win for the Bones on July 10.

Jacob Whitley has played in 22 games thus far for the Bulldogs, batting .283 with 13 hits, including three doubles and four RBI.
Roanoke Rails (19-14)
Zach Duncan has made five appearances on the mound, including three starts, bowing a 3.06 ERA in 17.2 innings of work. He has a 3-1 record on the season with nine strikeouts thus far.
Carolina Pirates (13-18)
Future Runnin' Bulldog Ben LaSpaluto is batting .268 in 23 contests, collecting 19 base hits with a pair of doubles and four RBI.
