
Gardner-Webb Places Six Men on Big South Baseball All-Conference Team

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Gardner-Webb placed six men on the 2018 Big South Baseball All-Conference team, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
The Runnin' Bulldogs had first baseman Corey Howard on the first team, while outfielders Chris Clary and Mickey Dugan, designated hitter Chandler Redmond, and starting pitcher Bradley Hallman earned second team honors. Outfielder Mason Fox was an honorable mention choice.
The six selections are the most for Gardner-Webb since the 2016 season when the Runnin' Bulldogs had six men on the Big South All-Conference list. Prior to that, the previous high was four selections in 2000 as members of the South Atlantic Conference.
Third baseman Eric Jones was also named to the All-Academic team.
Howard (Silver Spring, Md. / Georgetown Prep) leads the 'Dogs with a .353 batting average, as well as a team-high in doubles with 15. He has driven in 33 runs throughout the season and has had 23 games with multiple hits, and is currently riding a 28-game reached base streak. Howard was named Big South Player of the Week on two occasions this year.
Clary (Gaffney, S.C. / Gaffney HS) is batting .343 on the year with 15 extra-base hits, including eight home runs. He leads the team with a .577 slugging percentage and a .431 on-base percentage, and has swiped 18 bags throughout the year.
Dugan (Jacksonville, Fla. / Veterans HS) has a .322 batting average with seven home runs and 42 RBI and has had 20 games with multiple base hits. He has drawn a team-best 31 walks and is 12-for-15 in stolen base attempts, and earned Big South Player of the Week honors once this year.
Redmond (Middletown, Md. / Georgetown Prep) leads GWU with 14 home runs and 47 RBI throughout the season. He has produced the game-winning RBI on five occasions, including a walk off three-run home run against Charleston Southern on May 11.
Hallman (Denver, N.C. / Southlake Christian Academy) had led GWU on the mound throughout the year with a 3.53 ERA and a 5-2 record in 14 starts, collecting 64 strikeouts in 89.1 innings of work. Eight of Hallman's starts throughout the season were quality starts.
Fox (Canton, N.C. / Pisgah HS) was .316 at the dish for the season with 12 doubles and six home runs, driving in 40 runs throughout the year. He leads the team with 19 stolen bases on 21 attempts and is currently on an 18-game reached base streak.
Jones (Charlotte Court House, Va. / Randolph-Henry HS), an Exercise Science major with a 4.0 overall GPA, is batting .287 with 11 extra base hits and 43 RBI. He has 15 games with multiple base hits, and his home run at North Carolina propelled the 'Dogs to a 1-0 win over the Tar Heels on March 1.
