Chase Lane Named Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Gardner-Webb senior pitcher Chase Lane has been named the Big South Conference Relief Pitcher of the Week for games played February 24-March 1, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Lane (Winston-Salem, N.C. / Reagan HS) was flawless in three trips to the mound this past week, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing no baserunners while collecting five strikeouts.
In Saturday's 8-7 comeback win at Jacksonville State, Lane recorded the final four outs to earn his second save of the 2020 season.
The right-handed reliever also worked scoreless frames at No. 17 Georgia Tech, fanning all three batters faced, on Tuesday evening and on Sunday afternoon at Jacksonville State.
Gardner-Webb (6-5) hosts Ball State on Wednesday evening at Bill Masters Field at John Henry Moss Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm with live coverage on ESPN+.
