BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Summer collegiate wooden bat leagues have begun play throughout the nation, with nine Runnin' Bulldogs competing in various leagues across the country.
COASTAL PLAIN LEAGUE
Martinsville Mustangs (3-3)
The Mustangs have a trio of Runnin' Bulldogs on their squad this summer in
Kyle Ruehlman,
Bo Rusher, and Joe Simone. Ruehlman is 1-1 in two appearances on the mound, earning the win in this first start of the season on July 6, allowing just one run on four hits with four strikeouts in five innings of work in a 14-1 win over the Bull City Crash. Rusher has seen action in two contests, batting .125 with a double and a pair of RBI. Simone is batting .263 in five games thus far and has also swiped three bases.
GOLDEN STATE COLLEGIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE
Medford Rogues (2-0)
Sebasten Boivin has yet to see action as the Rogues opened their season on July 7 with a 5-3 win over the Medford Mustangs. The Golden State Collegiate Baseball League cancelled its league for the summer, but the Rogues have put together a 30-game independent schedule against teams throughout the west coast.
FLORIDA COLLEGIATE LEAGUE
Leesburg Lightning (6-2)
Connor Gleeson is 1-1 on the season in two appearances, tossing four innings, allowing just one unearned run on one base hit with three strikeouts. Gleeson's win came on Opening Day for the Lighting in a 5-4 walkoff win against the Winter Park Diamond Dogs, in which he hurled the final two scoreless frames.
NORTHWOODS LEAGUE
Waterloo Bucks (6-1)
Patrick Ferguson is batting .250 in six games played thus far, totaling six hits, including a double and two home runs and three RBI. The Bucks currently sit atop the standings in the Minnesota-Iowa division.
PIONEER COLLEGIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE
Those Guys (14-2)
Lucas Gardner has been competing for Those Guys based out of Bancroft, Iowa. The team is affiliated with the Bancroft Bandits of the PCBL. The PCBL cancelled its league for the summer.
SUNFLOWER COLLEGIATE LEAGUE
Mulvane Patriots (9-11)
Colby Standard is batting .322 with 19 base hits in 16 games for the Patriots with four doubles and six RBI.
SUNSET BASEBALL LEAGUE
SoCal Shepherds (2-5)
Corey Treyes earned the win on the mound for the SoCal Shepherds in his first appearance of the summer on July 7, holding the Orange County Legends to just one run on four base hits in four innings of work with four strikeouts.
