Pair of Runnin’ Bulldogs Earn 2020 All-Coastal Plain League Honors

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb baseball had two representatives on the 2020 All-Coastal Plain League first team, as announced by the league office.
Kyle Ruehlman and Joe Simone each earned a spot on the 28-man first team, which was chosen by the CPL's head coaches.
Ruehlman made six trips to the mound this summer for the Martinsville Mustangs, including three starts. Posting a 2-1 record, Ruehlman had a miniscule 0.95 ERA in 19.0 innings of work, fanning 17 batters while only issuing one walk.
Simone played in 22 games for the Mustangs in the outfield, batting .329 with five doubles and ten RBI. He also drew 19 walks to post a .470 on-base percentage and swiped nine bags. Simone ranked in the top-ten among all players in the CPL in on-base percentage (4th), batting average (8th), walks (8th), and stolen bases (10th).
Both men helped lead the Martinsville Mustangs to a 16-10-1 record over the summer.
