2021 Volleyball Postseason Awards - Mikah McIntosh, Kylee Garrison

McIntosh, Garrison Earn Big South Postseason Volleyball Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb sophomore Mikah McIntosh has been voted Second-Team All-Big South Conference, the league announced on Wednesday, November 17. Additionally, Gardner-Webb senior Kylee Garrison has earned a spot on the Big South All-Academic Team.

McIntosh posted 480 total digs this season for an average of 5.33 digs per set, a new program record. Both marks led all Big South players, while her digs per set average ranked 14th in the nation for NCAA Division I.

Against conference opponents, McIntosh stepped up even more defensively and averaged 6.19 digs per set, while no other player across the league averaged more than 5.00.

A native of Miami, Florida, McIntosh recorded 46 digs in a five-set match against UNC Asheville on Oct. 30. That set a new Gardner-Webb all-time high and also established the NCAA single-match high for the 2021 season, falling just two digs shy of equaling the Big South single-match digs record in a five-set contest (48). She also became one of only two players in team history to eclipse 40 digs in one contest.

The defensive standout finished with double-digit digs in 21-of-26 matches on the season and reached that mark in all but one conference matchup. Of the five matches in which she did not register 10-plus kills, four of those came when she filled in at outside hitter as needed.

McIntosh became the first player in Gardner-Webb history to earn the Big South's Libero of the Week honor three times in the same season.
