Gardner-Webb Baseball Season Tickets On Sale Now

BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb's 2022 baseball season begins on February 18 and season tickets for an exciting 2022 season are now available for purchase online.

The schedule is stacked, with non-conference home dates against 2021 NCAA Tournament teams NJIT and Virginia, ACC foe Wake Forest and traditional Southern Conference contenders UNC Greensboro, Western Carolina and Wofford. Coach Jim Chester's squad will face Power 5 foes Georgia Tech, South Carolina and North Carolina on the road in 2022.
"We couldn't be more excited about the 2022 season," said head coach Jim Chester. "We have an exciting and challenging schedule with some outstanding opponents visiting us in Boiling Springs. Our club has worked extremely hard and February 18 can't get her soon enough."
Gardner-Webb is coming off a third-place Big South finish – its highest since joining the league in 2009 – and posted an RPI of 110 last spring before falling late in the league tournament semifinals.
Pitchers Bobby Alcock and Kyle Skidmore were listed recently by Collegiate Baseball News as two of the Big South's top players to watch for 2022 and the pair should anchor the Gardner-Webb pitching staff.
Alcock, slated to pitch next summer in the prestigious Cape Cod League for the Wareham Gatemen, is one of the Big South's most gifted arms entering the 2022 campaign. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound sophomore went 2-1 with a 4.83 ERA last season and fanned 57 batters. His fastball velocity, already in the low 90s when he arrived as a freshman, now bumps 97 mph.
Skidmore, Gardner-Webb's top reliever last season, went 5-1 with a save in 21 appearances. He pitched for Hyannis in the Cape Cod League last summer.
