Gardner-Webb Baseball Begins Fall Practice On Thursday, Preps For Success In 2022

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb baseball started fall practice Thursday afternoon at Bill Masters Field at John Henry Moss Stadium, beginning its build up toward the 2022 season.
The Diamond 'Dogs will compete over the next two months in scrimmages leading up to the Dawg Bone World Series in November. Follow the official baseball twitter account, @GWUBaseball, for updates and other content related to head coach Jim Chester's squad.
Gardner-Webb will rebuild its roster from an ultra-successful 2021 campaign, which saw the Runnin' Bulldogs finish higher than ever before in the final Big South standings.
The good news is a strong recruiting class. The 'Dogs were rated among the nation's top recruiting classes for the second-straight year by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper – one of only two Big South programs listed in those rankings for the Class of 2021.
Perfect Game also rated the GWU recruiting class in its top-100 for the second year in a row, with this collection of talent coming in at No. 64 overall. Gardner-Webb's recruiting class was ranked No. 55 by Perfect Game one year ago.
Gardner-Webb was the first school in the country to announce its 2022 spring schedule and will open the regular season at home in the 2022 Jerry Bryson Classic – which also features 2021 NCAA regional participants Virginia and NJIT along with Bellarmine.
The 'Dogs play NJIT in the opener on Friday, February 18 at 5 pm.
