Tyler Switalski Named Big South Conference Baseball Co-Freshman of the Week

CHARLOTTE - Gardner-Webb pitcher Tyler Switalski was named Big South Conference Co-Freshman of the Week on Monday after another strong start in conference action.
Switalski (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg HS) led the Runnin' Bulldogs to a 12-7 win over North Carolina A&T on Friday afternoon, tying his season-high with 7.0 innings of work. He picked up the victory after hanging zeros in each of those innings.
Switalski fanned six Aggies, walked only two and scattered four hits in the win. It was the third time this season he had pitched 7.0 innings in a starting assignment.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound lefty is now 5-4 with a 4.11 ERA in 14 starts this season. He has struck out 43 batters in 65.2 innings of work and is allowing opponents to hit just .252 against him.
He has won his last four starts against Big South Conference foes, going 4-0 with a 3.24 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 25.0 innings of work. Those four teams have batted just .200 against the southpaw.
