Marcos & Simeone Named To Big South All-Tournament Team

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Gardner-Webb standouts Jacob Marcos and Joe Simeone were each named to the Big South Conference All-Tournament Team.
Marcos (Miami, Fla. / Catawba Valley CC) displayed terrific glove work, his normal prowess on the base paths and batted .375 for the event with a pair of steals and two runs scored. Marcos batted .500 in Gardner-Webb's two wins, leading the 'Dogs to the semifinals.
Marcos finished the season batting a career-high .299 with 49 runs scored, 10 doubles and a league-high 30 stolen bases.
Simeone (Groton, Mass. / UConn) made his last collegiate start one to remember, twirling a complete-game shutout in the opening round win over UNC Asheville.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound righty allowed only three singles and fanned eight in his fourth complete game effort of the season.
The staff ace finished the season with a 9-6 record, a 3.59 ERA and a league-high 105.1 innings pitched and 116 strikeouts in 15 starts.
Simeone factored into the decision in each one of his starts - a rarity in modern baseball.
