
Gardner-Webb Baseball Announces Pair of Staff Additions

BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb baseball announced the addition of two staff members on Thursday, with Ryan Shawley and James Marshall joining the staff.
Shawley will take over as the Head Development Team coach and Marshall will serve as the Director of Baseball Operations and Development Team Assistant Coach.
"We are excited to welcome Ryan and James to the Gardner-Webb baseball family," said head coach Jim Chester. "These two young men will make our program better. Their professionalism and desire to be successful in our industry is going to pay dividends for the Runnin' Bulldogs."
Shawley joins the program after serving as an assistant coach at Keiser University last season. He assisted in all aspects on the field with a primary focus on the team's pitching staff. As a player, he spent four seasons at Chatham University, logging starts at shortstop, third base, first base and on the mound.
Shawley finished as the program's all-time leader in career starts and in the top-five in program history in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched. He also batted .306 as a senior in 2021.
The Latrobe, Pa., native graduated from Chatham with a degree in elementary education in 2021.
Marshall comes to Boiling Springs after serving as the head team manager at national power Oregon State from 2018 through 2022. He worked in a variety of roles with the Beavers and also spent time as an assistant coach in the summer for the Niagara Power and the Medford Rogues.
Marshall graduated from Oregon State in June with a degree in business administration and marketing. He is a native of West Linn, Oregon.
