
Accolades And All-Star Selections Roll In For Gardner-Webb Baseball Summer Stars

BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb baseball continues to be well represented in summer leagues around the country, with several Runnin' Bulldogs earning mid-season accolades and All-Star Game nods recently.
Outfielder Nate Anderson (Kingsport Axemen) was named the Appalachian League's Player of the Year through the first half of the season, building on a sensational season. The speedster is batting .318 through 27 games with the Axemen and has built a strong .425 on base percentage. Anderson leads the league with 18 stolen bases and 13 doubles and ranks second on the circuit with 34 base hits.
He will be a strong candidate for the 2022 Appalachian League All-Star Game, which will be played on July 25 in Burlington, N.C.
Pitcher Casey Young (Forest City Owls) and utility man Jacob McCaskey (Wilson Tobs) were both named to the upcoming Coastal Plains League All-Star Game, which is set for July 10 in Holly Springs, N.C.
McCaskey, a graduate transfer from Cal (Pa.), is batting .322 with three home runs and 12 RBI through 23 games played for the Tobs. A two-way sensation, McCaskey has also gone 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA in 6.2 innings of mound work.
Young has made four starts in Forest City this summer, going 0-0 with a 2.07 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 21.2 innings of work. He has allowed only two extra base hits so far.
