
Gardner-Webb Baseball Set for Dawg Bone World Series

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University baseball team is set for their annual Dawg Bone World Series to conclude the 2023 fall season.
The Dawg Bone World Series is the annual intersquad scrimmage for the baseball team. Both teams are drafted earlier in the week and split up into two squads. The two teams were selected by Director of Baseball Operations/Developmental Assistant James Marshall and by Head Developmental Coach Cam Medic.
The series will be three games, all played at Bill Masters Field at John Henry Moss Stadium. Game one begins on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 4:30 P.M. First pitch for game two is set for Friday, Nov. 3 at 3:45 P.M. Regardless of the results of the first two games, game three will be played on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11:00 A.M. Admission for all three games is free to the public.
"We have had an outstanding fall,and what better way to put a cap on it than the Dawg Bone World Series," says Head Baseball Coach Jim Chester. "The players are ready to compete. It is going to be an exciting three days."
The Gardner-Webb baseball roster features 23 new players, with 12 of those transferring from Division-I schools. All-Conference players Mark Black and Humberto Torres also return to Boiling Springs, along with slugger Alec Burns.
The Gardner-Webb baseball program is coming off a 31-25 season with a fourth-place finish in the Big South conference, along with seven players earning All-Conference honors.
